Scottsdale – the West’s most Western town, offers plenty of shopping, restaurants, nightlife, galleries, Southwestern specialty shops and unique boutiques.  Check out the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings, root for your favorite baseball team during Spring Training, roll the dice at a local casino, or head to the Scottsdale Waterfront to people watch – this is truly a favorite destination spot!

Carefree and Cave Creek – home to Harold’s Saloon and the Buffalo Chip (live bull riding on Wednesday and Friday nights), Frontier Town and lots of fun, funky shopping, only 30 minutes from the ranch. 


Jeep Tours

Join the adventure on a four wheel drive expedition into the foothills of the Sonoran desert, which boasts an abundance of plant and animal life like no other desert. Experience the spectacular beauty up close and personal with your own cowboy guides, who are knowledgeable in Arizona history and legend.  Learn all about the native plant life, wildlife and Indian folklore indigenous to Arizona and enjoy a leisurely entertaining and informative nature walk while your guide identifies the numerous varieties of cacti and explains how the native people learned to utilize these natural resources. 

Horseback Riding

While we don’t rent horses, the stables down the road does!  So saddle up pardner for a trip down the trail into the beautiful Arizona desert.  Riding among the saguaro cactus, you’ll explore our lush Sonoran scenery with an experienced guide who will familiarize you with the abundant plant and animal life.  Novice or pro, young or old, this is one scenic ride you won’t want to miss, so don’t forget your camera!!

River Rafting/Kayaking

The fun water floats offer a unique and exciting way to explore a part of Arizona few have ever seen!  Rafting the inviting waters of the desert rivers offer you a secluded and unspoiled river environment.  Discover migrating birds and towering saguaro cacti as you raft through the Tonto National Forest and into the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation, on a paddle raft with an experienced boatman.  Kayaks are also available.  It’s a relaxing way to enjoy your stay in the Valley!


If you have a full day, head for the high country of beautiful Oak Creek Canyon, nestled in the red rocks north of Phoenix.  Browse through Tlaquepaque, the local artisans and craftsman’s Mercado, featuring handcrafted Southwestern specialty items or downtown Sedona, where New Age meets Old West.  Tour up the winding road of Oak Creek Canyon for a breath of fresh air and a picture taking stop, hike any of the scenic back country trails, experience a vortex, take a jeep or helicopter tour – Sedona reigns as the second most popular tourist destination in AZ  (Grand Canyon is #1).  

Hot Air Balloon Rides

There is nothing more exciting than a hot air balloon ride in the Sonoran skies! Glide slowly across the desert and enjoy a bird’s eye view of the Valley below, as you soar on the wind currents to a landing site where champagne and a gourmet continental breakfast or hors d’oeuvres awaits you. Your experienced pilot will share stories of the Arizona desert while expertly commandeering the balloon. Early morning and late afternoon departures.
